Bus

Bus travel around Sydney is super easy and one of the most cost effective ways to explore the city and suburbs.

If you are visiting Sydney and surrounds by bus, you can pay your fares on metro, train, bus, ferry and light rail services with an Opal card or Opal single ticket. Opal is the smartcard ticketing system used to pay for travel on public transport in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, the Hunter and the Illawarra.

Opal cards are the most convenient and affordable way to pay for your fares while visiting Sydney. Top your card with funds before you travel and tap on and off to pay your fare.

If you don’t have an Opal card, contactless payments are available with your compatible payment card or mobile device, on most metro, train, ferry and light rail services and will be equivalent to a standard (peak) adult Opal fare in most cases. Alternatively you can purchase single trip tickets on most services, however prices are more expensive than Opal card or contactless fares.

If you are coming by plane, there are public transport options to get to and from Sydney Airport.
